Meeting Notes: Feb 26th @ Corner Store Building

We will get a bit more formal about taking minutes going forward but here is what I have from vague recollections of our meeting on Feb 26th:

  • County Petition Signing:
    • Nancy, Joe, Jan, and Ellen all went to the Rensselaer County Democrats meeting on Feb 25th and brought back petitions for us all to sign.
    • Specifically, we need 60 signatures. Be looking for Nancy, Joe, Jan, and Ellen to come knocking at your door for your John Hancock!
    • Better yet, join us on the 9th and sign in person!
  • Town Improvement Brainstorming:
    • We talked about the fact that we would like to do things that could directly help the town out that is outside of politics, that gets us out there, and helps the town in meaningful ways.
    • We are still brainstorming this one and will discuss more at the next meeting. Some thoughts put out there so far are:
      • Reviving the Firehouse Brunch! Be the core volunteers that get the brunch going again! Mother’s Day was discussed as the first possible one. Thought was we should do it as a one-off, see how it goes, and try to see if doing it monthly is possible. Would be good to recruit other townsfolks!
      • Roadside Cleanup: Once the weather is better, we could have a crew that keeps our part of the 22 clean. Joe mentioned that he could give Fire Company utility safety vests to all!

We had a special guest this meeting! Alice & David were hosting Greg Marinovich, photojournalist, who is documenting politics in small town America. He came to visit and take photos of our small meeting. Very exciting.
